The monument is situated in front of the “Renzo Pezzani” primary school, via Quasimodo 2, Albinea. Albinea is a small town near Reggio Emilia ( in the south of Reggio Emilia ).

The monument is made with a Fragment of the Berlin wall.

The wall was built in Berlin on 13/08/ 1961 and destroyed on 09/11/1989. This fragment arrived here on 28/09/1999 and was situated in the actual place on 28/10/2000.

The fragment of wall has a german inscription which reports the date of construction of the Berlin wall. On the wall a plaque says that Treptow district ( Berlin ) gave this fragment to the municipality of Albinea thanks to the will of the farmer Mario Crotti. Near the fragment is situated a memorial plaque, which says that this fragment of wall is a symbol of peace and it is the hope in a future of collaboration among people. This fragment wants to remember everyone who died near the wall and everyone who fought for freedom.

The wall was built after the second world war. The population itself destroyed it. This fragment came to Albinea thanks to Mr. Mario Crotti.

The city of Treptow gave this fragment of wall to the city of Albinea thanks to Mr. Mario Crotti and to Mr. Sigfried Stock ( mayor of Treptow ) because the district of Treptow and Albinea are twin cities.

Built in Berlin, this fragment came from Treptow to Albinea.

The fragment of wall is situated in front of the primary school “ Renzo Pezzani”, near the center of Albinea.

This fragment of wall wants to remember the Berlin wall and all its victims. This fragment wants to be a support for people fighting for world peace and for tolerance. It wants to be a hope in a future of brotherhood among people.
