| The 4th lyceum is a secondary
high school situated in Corfu town the capital of Corfu Island in the area of north
western Greece. The school is quite new it was founded in 1994. The students of the school are aged between 15 and 18 years old. The school offers a three year course of studies. In first year the students follow a common curriculum with a couple of optional subjects. In the final two years the pupils have a choice of three different courses : a) Theoretical studies ( philosophy, law, Greek language etc. ) b) Technological studies ( mainly for polytechnic departments ) c) Science ( medicine, biology etc ). Each course leads to the same secondary high school diploma. After the graduation pupils have to pass final exams in order to continue their studies at the university. At the present the school has a total of about 170 pupils 54 in first year, 75 in second year 46 in third year. Twenty six teachers are working in the schools which were graduate from Greek universities, some of them have awarded post graduate diplomas. Pupils who have difficulties are given help in special courses alongside their normal lessons.
